EICR Unearths Random Finding:

Following on from our first post Hello Wakefield!, we thought we’d give you a quick update on what we’ve been upto when an EICR unearths a random finding

Today saw us completing an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) sometimes better known as a Landlord Report for a local estate agent customer. This is an area of work we specialise in, now having completed literally hundreds on behalf of some of the most prestigious estate agents and private landlords in the local area.

The property in question was a local 2 bed semi, very well presented and, on the face of it anyway, perfectly safe. However this EICR unearthed a random finding:

However, imagine our shock to open the airing cupboard in the bathroom and find this “python” waiting to strike! “Surely that can’t be live?!?!?” was our first thought but, after careful inspection we discovered that this cable was live, and so it would seem, has been this way for quite some time now!

This just goes to show, you can never be too sure what is hiding away in cupboards. This could have caused serious injury or could have even been fatal (it was in the bathroom after all)

Ultimately, yes this may have been an exceptional case, but it just goes to show how dangerous electrical faults (quite often which aren’t as easily visible to the naked eye!) can go undetected, for quite some time. In this particular instance, it was a rental property for a remote landlord. We specialise in inspection & testing for the rental sector, completing work on behalf of a number of brand name estate agents in the local area.

If you’d like to check your house in the Wakefield, Ossett or Morley area isn’t hiding any horrors like this, please call James on 01924 654034
